[On the one hand, he's from a warrior culture and understands the impulse. On the other, a sword isn't really a go-to for self-defense only. Also, a sword with a name is definitely going to have some added importance he doesn't want to trample. Humans don't have claws. It's fair that they get hung up on weapons.]

You're not worried a sword's gonna make you look like you're spoiling for a fight? Have you considered a taser?

[Well, that's kinda cool. But. Bendy, extremely easily concealed sword actually sounds less great.]

Are you familiar with a taser? They're pretty new to me, too, but they pretty much just shock people and knock them over.

If swords were limited to cuts, maybe. Look, I get swords are important once you get attached to them, but they've pretty much just got the one use.

[Wow, sword guys. He's glad he doesn't have to worry about this for a long time. But he can imagine Hudson in the same position--sort of, he can't see his elder as an inmate--and he's sure the sword would be a sore spot.]

Okay, this still feels like inviting trouble. So. Here's my offer.

[The admiral can do magic junk. And Brooklyn's tangled with a few tricksters, admittedly usually the magical kind.]

You're only with me for a couple of weeks. So I'll ask for this to be transferred to any other warden you get, and they can change it if they want. Any time that sword gets drawn, I get an alert on my communicator. If it's self defense, you'll want backup anyway.
